DelimiterGrid.NET

DelimiterGrid.NET is a control built in VB.NET 2003 on Microsoft .NET Framework v.1.1, but ofcourse this does not do that you are not able to use the control in C# or one of the other languages enabled in Visual Studio.NET.

If you are in need of a control that makes it posible for you import fixed-length files or strings into your Windows applications, then this might be what you need.



The control works on the same basic principals as when trying to import a fixed-length/fixed-values file into Microsoft Excel. Their you are presented with a guide to help you import the data as you want it. I have been looking for a control like this for a long time, but since I never found one, I decided to develop it myself.

The control works very simpel indeed. You can use 2 ways of filling data into the control. One way is simply by specifying a filename (optional encoding) or provide the control with a large string.

Then you show the DelimiterGrid.NET to the user and let's him/her decide where to split the data. When the user is done specifying where the delimiterlines should be, you can eighter extract the delimiterlines column numbers or you can let the data be split by the built-in DataFormatter. The dataformatter provides a wide range of different data types. Like Datatable, Dataset, XmlDocument, XmlText, Two-dimensional string array, separated values (string) or maybe an ArrayList.
